Did Jesus Really Say That About Divorce? - or did somebody put their words in his mouth?
The Dead Sea Scrolls and ancient marriage and divorce documents have revealed new information about Jewish grounds for divorce and remarriage at the time of Jesus. Phrases used in Jesus' teaching on divorce have been identified as legal terminology in these documents. The implication of this is that Jesus only rejected no-fault divorces, and did not reject divorce for abuse, neglect or abandonment, and he allowed remarriage after such divorces.
