THE SEED OF A NEW TOMORROW
by David Robinson
Always praise God for the good you have received, but know this: it’s only a foretaste of things to come, it’s the first shoots of a new life bursting forth in your heart, it’s the beginning of a new life struggling through the soils of adversity and pain. It’s the seed of a new dawn struggling to replace the darkness of wearisome nights, it’s the early fruits of a new vintage, it’s the stream meeting the river of Christ's love and racing toward the ocean of God’s abundant grace.
Oh how wonderful the revelation of Christ is to the weary and the sick, how precious the moment when self dies and his life rolls away the stone and lightens the darkness of pain bringing us into a new day, a new life, a resurrected life.
‘What is truth?’ Pilate asked Jesus; listen to this gem written by Paul; ‘I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ lives in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.
It wasn't Paul's faith that enabled him to live, it was Christ's faith imparted to him, it was Christ in him the hope of glory, it was the indwelling Christ who was his health, his peace, his rest, it was Christ in him who was his strength, his liberty, his joy.
I wish we could see this truth; I wish we would leave behind our own foolishness and see the wisdom that is Christ. A river does not struggle to go downstream it merely flows to the ocean, a seed does not struggle to live, it waits for the rain and the sun which God gives, then it breaks through and brings forth fruit, and the sun does not worry about being able to give light, it is light.
Don't you see it? It’s not healing we need; it’s Christ who is the health of our countenance, he is our healer. It’s not peace we need, it’s Christ who is our peace, it’s not more strength we need it’s Christ who is our strength, and our rest.
Amazing love, amazing grace, how sweet the sound of divine truth, Christ does not give sanctification, he is our sanctification. He is our victory, our life, our all in all. It’s not more wisdom we need it’s more of Christ, it’s not more doctrines we need it’s knowing him and the power of his resurrection and the fellowship of his sufferings.
It’s Christ who is our righteousness for ours is but filthy rags, it’s Christ who is the door, the way and the life; it’s from Christ in us that fountains of virtue flow, we receive from Christ who is the eternal spring of peace and joy, health and strength.
His faith, the God kind of faith we need when in times of trouble, it’s his faith, gifted to us as his children that moves mountains, that heals diseases, that destroys the yolk and sets the captive free. It’s his faith working in and through us that works by love, this is the faith that overcomes, that brings down every barrier to liberty; faith that is sufficient for every trial.
It’s found in Christ alone by the Holy Spirit; it’s a free enabling gift to every believer who would seek Christ with all his heart. It’s the seed of a new and better tomorrow, a new dawn for those in darkness, new found health for those in pain, and it’s yours!
